Thank You, Lady Gaga

This morning I was cleaning the house and Luke was following me from room to room helping me vaccuum.  I starting singing Lady Gaga's Bad Romance..."Ra Ra-ah-ah-ah, Roma Roma-ma" and he shouts out "GA GA"!  So cute!  Last week, after a fun weekend at Grandma and PaPa's house, we had a long drive home and we listened to the Gaga CD and he said "gaga" and I cheered him on, but I had no idea it'd stick and he'd recognize it a week later!  So much fun!

Little Zealand is just about sitting up on his own.  He's doing it for 8 seconds but Zac and I have decided it doesn't officially count until he does it on his own for 10 seconds.
But the precious little guy is in the 98th percentile in height and has a really long torso he's trying to balance, so we're helping him practice as often as we can.  He's so awesome!

As of today, it is summer and I already have had a ton of fun with them in the sun and a ton of sunny pictures that captured most of it.  Here is one series of pictures I took of Luke this weekend.  You can see in the first picture that I just called his name.  I told him to spray himself.  Like a good little boy, he listened to his mommy, sprayed himself right in the face and followed to throw the hose down.  He ran staight over to me and the final picture is of his sweet little face drenched.

Luke is fascinated with money right now :)  Grandma and Papa gave him a piggy bank for his first birthday which he started taking notice to a few weeks ago.  "Piggy" he'll shout out.  Then we showed him how to fill the piggy with change that he calls "money" or muh-nee.  I have given him all the change out of my wallet and he's always trying to fill his piggy, but I'm running out of change!  I guess this is a good thing if he continues to want to save money, rather than spend it like his mama!

Finally, we had a fabulous Father's Day with all four of us being home together.  It was super hot and we all squeezed into Luke's dragon pool.  Even Zealand kept cool and we shaded him from the sun!  We kept Luke laughing by pouring water over him and one another...even letting him pour water over mommy and daddy.  We concluded the fun day with a delicious homemade dinner of enchiladas and chili rellenos.  Needless to say, I think everyone in our home slept very well last night!

Hey, That's My Brother!

It seems Luke William has discovered that Zealand isn't just a thing that eats and sleeps all the time.  With Zealand soon to enter his 6th month of life, he's very alert and Luke knows it!  Not only does Luke now look for his bro when he notices he's not in plain sight, but he spends a lot of his time trying to make Zealand laugh with a game of peek-a-boo or by taking and giving his teething rings.  He also seems like he's trying to get his brother to get up and get playing because he's always tugging on his clothes and trying to get him to roll over and play.  It's so sweet to see them connect...especially when Luke does have Zealand chuckling and in response makes Luke laugh too!  However, this also means that mommy and daddy (and our sitter Meagan) have to be on high alert now because Luke thinks he can play with anything he can...or do anything he can.  Yesterday morning Zac and I were having an adult conversation (can you even imagine!) and noticed Luke walking eagerly towards his brother with toothbrush in hand.  So how do we tell our eldest that he's being sweet by sharing yet he can't be rough and he can't put things in his brother's mouth, unless it's a bottle, but it's okay for mommy and daddy to give him a teething ring but you can't shove it in his mouth.  Oy vey!  Caution versus freedom.  And caution wins every time!

I had an exciting moment with Luke on Saturday.  We came downstairs after he woke up around 6:30am (did I mention Zealand has been sleeping through the night for a week now - aaaah!) and I took off his diaper and his pants.  Asked him if he had to pee pee in the potty and he didn't really act like it so we left it at that.  I went into the kitchen to get him a sippy of water and he ran in from the living room and was like, "mama, pee pee" and i went into the living room and in the potty...pee pee!  He did it all on his own and I gotta mention his aim is getting better.  Ready for another pee pee story?  So on Sunday, he ripped his diaper off and pee peed without me even suggesting it.  We're so excited.  Like I said a couple of weeks ago, we're not going to push him into it, at least not until he's 2.  But if he's happy to go, than I say go!  And he can say "go go go" :)

Mommy and daddy have been having fun too. We took the boys out for Mexican the other night, all dressed up in their overalls. I used my work camera, a sweet Canon, and tried to get a family shot of us. We're also loving the warm weather over here! We just got a dragon pool and I did blow it up myself. Luke is not afraid, as he'll dive in head first. We've been putting Zealand in his bathtub in the shade which he seems to enjoy and Luke even likes to crawl in with him from time to time. Gotta tell you...it's tricky getting suntan lotion on a toddler. He's not a fan, but it must be done. And he doesn't understand bribery yet.

We hope you all are enjoying the weather too, wherever you are!
